Academic Department Introduction
The Department of Physical Education, Recreation and 体育运动 develops students’ skills and knowledge in physical activities. All students must earn at least eight physical education credits. These can be earned through classes, varsity athletics, or recreational club teams. 韦尔斯利 is home to 13 NCAA Division III intercollegiate varsity teams, eight club teams, and an outstanding array of athletic facilities.

南内尔O. Keohane Sports Center (KSC)
Named for former 韦尔斯利 president Nannerl Keohane ’61, the KSC is the focal point for recreation and fitness at 韦尔斯利 College. The KSC is home to the Athletic Training Room, 钱德勒池, Dorothy Towne Fieldhouse, 健身中心, Varsity Weight Room, and the 韦尔斯利 体育运动 Hall of Fame.

Pickleball

Pickleball is a paddle sport accessible to all ages and skill levels. Students will learn the rules of the game and basics of play, with greater technique incorporated as the class progresses. Through drills and live play, students will gain confidence and proficiency in this life-long wellness activity.

Descended from the ancient tradition of 戏剧tic storytelling in India, kathak is a classical performing art that combines dance, 戏剧, 音乐, 和节奏. 21st century kathak is innovative and contemporary, while remaining deeply rooted in the cultural heritage, traditions and philosophies that are its foundation. It is characterized by intricate footwork, refined gestures, 优雅的姿态, 快速旋转, 即兴创作, 和节奏ic intensity—along with both subtle and 戏剧tic facial expression. Kathak has gained global popularity and can be found worldwide, with practitioners of all ages, nationalities and ethnicities.

This course teaches students the practice of mindfulness. Through guided meditative exercises, students will improve their abilities to relax, 刷新, and focus the mind and body. Upon completion of the course, which includes short independent daily exercises, and maintaining a journal, students will be able to effectively integrate mindfulness into their lives.
